Individual Therapy
Your therapist and you will meet to assess your concerns, history, strengths and goals that you would like to work toward in therapy. During talk based sessions, with the use of various modalities, your therapist will help you to gain awareness, perspective and tangible skills to achieve your therapy goals. Therapeutic relationship is the single most important factor in the effectiveness of psychotherapy more so than therapeutic modality or technique.

EMDR and Trauma Focused Therapy
If you have traumatic experiences that seem to be keeping you “stuck”, EMDR and trauma focused interventions might be more helpful to you in achieving your therapeutic goals. Trauma treatment sessions tend to be more structured in nature and don’t leave a lot of time for free flowing discussion in the same way that talk therapy sessions do. EMDR and trauma focused treatment are brain and body based and will more readily resolve concerns that are rooted in traumatic experiences than talk therapy will. Trauma is subjective and can include experiences that occurred over time, themes in relationships and may not meet criteria for a classic “PTSD” diagnosis. If you want to learn more about trauma focused treatment, please discuss this when reaching out for services.
